| Guangxi backs
on Big Southwest, has obvious location advantage, belongs to
sub-tropical humid monsoon zone, abundant of heat and rain coming
in the same season, one of provinces with most ascendant water
and heat resource in the whole country. It is named “natural
greenhouse” in winter, with a climate suitable for sub-tropical
crops. Guangxi is rich in species, yielding kinds of sub-tropical
fruit and vegetable, in which litchi, longan, grapefruit of
Shatian, umbilicate orange, banana, pineapple, and mango are
popular in domestic and abroad, and there are also special products
sold domestically and overseas, such as red lotus root of Guigang,
dasheen of Lipu, water spinach of Bobai, Grosvenor momordica
of Yongfu, month persimmon of Gongcheng, Xing’an maidenhair
tree fruit of Lingchuan, garlic of Yulin, pepper of Tiandeng,
and Badu bamboo shoot of Tianlin. |

| Guangxi is located in the Southwest of coastal mainland of China, facing to Southeastern Asia, leaning on big Southwest, on the connecting belt of southeastern coastal area and big Southwest, being most convenient passage to overseas from Southwestern China. Big Southwest includes Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Tibet and Chongqing, with an area of more than 2640 thousand square kilometers, and a population over 0.2 billion, rich in products resource, strategically important, being one of regions with greatest potential ability for economic development in China. CCP Central and State Council have paid much attention to opening and development of Big Southwest. In May, 1992, CCP Central decided to “sufficiently make use of Guangxi as passage to overseas from Southwestern China”, which established the strategic functions of Guangxi in China’s all-around opening to the outside world, and united opening and development with Big Southwest. Guangxi is not only hinge from Southern China to Southwest, but also a province along sea, lakes and territory; it has not only proper climate for sub-tropical plants to grow, but also abundant of minerals; it has not only convenient traffic by water, land and air, but also communication network connecting with the whole world; it is not only minority region, but also an important area for returned overseas Chinese and its relatives to live in; it has not only rapid developed high technology, but also cheap labor. Unique location advantage makes Guangxi the sole minority autonomous region along sea, lakes and territory. |
